God’s Promise to You
Many years ago there was a man called Abraham who lived in a city called Ur, which is located in Iraq. God told Abraham to leave his family and his city and travel to a land that God would show him. God promised Abraham that he would give him this land.
Abraham believed God and followed his command, travelling to the area now known as Israel/Palestine. Because Abraham was faithful, God blessed him and made further promises to him.
He promised that Abraham (who was 75 and childless) would have a son, and that he would have as many descendants as the stars in heaven, and that ‘in you [Abraham] all the families of the earth will be blessed’.
The first promise came true - Abraham had a son called Isaac when he was 100 years old. The second promise came true - the descendants of Abraham included the Jews, the Arabs, the Edomites, and several other ancient nations.
This means we can be confident that the third promise will also come true. God will bless all the families of the earth through Abraham.
