Community Bible reading sessions

The Book of Romans

On Sunday afternoons we are holding an open Bible reading session at the Greenmeadows Centre in Stoke. Members of the public are welcome to join us as we read and discuss God’s word the Bible.

This is a relaxed and informal environment that encourages ‘back to basics’ Bible reading and where people are free to ask questions. We will have Bibles available for you to use. Tea/coffee and biscuits provided.

The Promises to Abraham

One of the historical accounts in the Bible is about a man called Abraham. He was an old man and his wife Sarah was an old woman, but they had no children. God spoke to Abraham and told him to look up at the night sky and try to count all the stars. God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky.

It would take a miracle for Abraham and Sarah to be able to have a child, but Abraham believed God, and sure enough, they later had a son called Isaac. Today there are millions of people (both Jews and Arabs) that are descended from Abraham. God kept his promise.

God made some other promises to Abraham as well - ones that affect the whole world, including us. God kept his first promise to Abraham, so we can be confident that he will keep the other promises too.
